My name is  Archie Harvey and my wife Sarah and I have been members of  Mountpottinger Baptist Church for over 40 years. During those early years we both served as teachers in the Sunday School. At present I am a serving Deacon and whenever possible visit those who cannot attend the services either through infirmity, ill health or in nursing home.

In my working life I was a letterpress printer and retrained as a lithoprinter as new technology overtook letterpress printing and the demand for high class colour printing increased.

My interests are reading, cooking, jam making. I have a twin brother living in Australia and two sisters residing on Northern Ireland.

Hello everyone! My name is Lynne Houston, those who know me, know that I talk a lot and so this may be more than a paragraph.

I have blue eyes and brown hair; two sisters and a brother who I miss terribly in New Zealand. Come back soon Graemer!! I have lived in seven different houses. I love interior design and baking gluten-free cakes and tray-bakes! I chill out at my piano when I get stressed!

I have been married to Billy, the pastor of Mountpottinger Baptist, for nearly 24 years! I’ve stuck him well. We have a daughter Lindsay who is nearly sixteen ,going on 26! and loves every good looking boy in the land, and a son Timothy, who will be 14 in April and who has eyes for one girl only.

Our house is always busy and we love having people pop in for a cuppa.

I was brought up in the Dundonald area and attended the Baptist Church there for nearly 21 years. It was at an early age of 6 that I trusted the Lord as my Saviour. My family are all Christians but I knew that this didn’t guarantee me a place in Heaven. I came to a simple faith and repented of my sin. The Christian life is full of ups and downs. I have had a lot of health problems and still do, but the Lord plans the way ahead and I take each day as it comes, knowing that He goes before me and my family. I Thank God for household salvation!

These are tough days for our children to be living the Christian life. We have always had a special time each morning before school starts of setting aside 15 minutes for family worship. We have benefited greatly from this and I would recommend this to any family. The devil would rather see the Christian family fall apart but keeping close to God stops that. I trust that if you haven’t already given your life to the Lord that you will seek his face and experience the peace and joy in your life that He alone can give.

We’d love to see you at Mountpottinger!

As you can see from the short biographies we are all different.
We have different likes and dislikes , enjoy different styles of music in church and out of church , but the thing that unites us is our relationship to God through his son Jesus.
We’re far from perfect !, just as in any family there may be times when people don’t agree yet at the end of the day we are still a family.
We have chosen to use the word  F A M I L Y
to explain what we strive to be.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming into membership Bill Houston, father of our pastor Billy Houston. We pray that we may grow together in our knowledge of the Lord.
